Contracts for Difference and the Pursuit of North Sea Renewable Energy: State Authority and Party Autonomy in the UK, Norway, and Belgium

The talk offers a comparative look at how Contracts for Difference (CfDs) underpin offshore renewable energy financing across the UK, Norway, and Belgium, and how national legal structures shape both contractual autonomy and the prospects for deeper cross-border cooperation in the North Sea energy system. It draws on empirical comparative analysis alongside private and public international law perspectives. This should be of particular interest to anyone keen to explore elements of energy law, international investment, or regulatory design.

After the talk there will be an opportunity for a Q&A discussion followed by time for informal discussions.

We hope to see many of you there!

Best wishes on behalf of the MSc Programme Directors,
